  • 1. Local-First StorageAll learning cards, recall progress, stats, and spacing metrics are kept directly in your browser's local database. We do not store them.
  • 2. No Passive TrackingWe do not track websites you visit or record background logs. The extension only processes the active page when you click "Start Learning".
  • 3. Safe AI ProcessingWe utilize secure enterprise AI endpoints. Your reading content is never used to train third-party AI models.

1. Overview & Commitment

Welcome to Coach J. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy details what information we collect, process, and protect when you use the Coach J web extension and our website.

Our primary development tenet is that **your mind is your own**. We believe active learning progress, reading lists, and concept recall attempts should remain private. We design Coach J to process as much data as possible directly on your machine.

2. Data We Process & Collect

To provide our AI learning tools, we handle specific data categories. We distinguish between data processed in-memory client-side and data collected to manage services.

A. Page Content (On-Demand AI Concept Extraction)

When you explicitly click "Start Learning" or request concept generation, Coach J reads the raw text of the active tab. This text is sent to our AI endpoints via HTTPS to summarize the article and compile active recall cards. This content is processed in-memory. It is not permanently stored on our servers and is discarded immediately after concepts are generated.

B. Local Active Recall & Spaced Repetition Metrics

All generated cards, review timestamps, mastery ratings, streaks, XP, level data, and SuperMemo SM-2 interval configurations are saved inside your local browser database (via IndexedDB and local extension storage). This data does not sync with our servers unless we explicitly offer an opt-in cloud sync feature in the future.

C. Anonymous Product Usage Analytics

We gather anonymous, aggregated event metrics (e.g., card generation volume, clicks on extension buttons, latency rates, or layout errors). These metrics contain no Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and are used solely to fix performance issues and guide feature improvements.

D. Subscription & License Information

If you purchase a Premium License, we collect payment confirmation data processed securely via Stripe. We do not store or see your credit card details. Stripe provides us with a transaction identifier and license email state to unlock premium daily AI limits inside the extension.

3. AI Providers & Data Guardrails

Coach J uses Large Language Models (LLMs) to perform smart concept extraction, summary highlights, and semantic grading. We enforce the following guardrails with our AI providers:

  • No Model Training: We use enterprise API developer connections. Our AI endpoints guarantee that your text content, card responses, and learning files are never used to train, refine, or validate LLM algorithms.
  • Strict Retention Policies: AI providers temporarily cache text payloads for safety monitoring (typically 30 days or less) before automatic, permanent deletion.
  • Data Minimization: Only relevant, extracted article text and your raw recall responses are sent to the AI. We never transmit metadata about your browser profile or other open tabs.

4. Cookies and Web Tracking

The Coach J landing page does not deploy tracking cookies or target behavioral ads. We do not run dynamic retargeting code. If you navigate our landing page, we only run basic, privacy-respecting analytics to gauge visit counts.

5. Data Storage, Control, and Deletion

You maintain complete sovereignty over your data.

  • To clear your local database of all learning cards, review logs, and progress metrics, click the "Clear Storage" action in the extension's options menu, or reset application data.
  • Uninstalling Coach J from your Chromium browser automatically purges all extension files and local databases created by the browser for our extension.

6. GDPR & CCPA Compliance

Depending on your location, you hold legal rights regarding your data (e.g., right to access, transfer, correct, or erase records). Because your progress metrics reside locally, we do not have direct access to retrieve or compile them for you. You may review them via the client-side extension interface. For questions regarding license data deletion or subscription inquiries, contact our support team.

7. Children's Privacy

Our services are not structured for, nor aimed at, children under 13. If we discover a child under 13 has transmitted personal license data to us, we will delete it promptly.

8. Changes & Inquiries

We may revise this Privacy Policy to adapt to browser API rules or service refinements. The updated version will be marked with a new "Last Updated" timestamp at the top of this page.
