1. Agreement to Terms

By installing the Coach J browser extension, accessing our website at coachj.you or using any of our learning services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to all of these terms, do not install, access, or use the Coach J extension or services.

2. Description of Service

Coach J is a personal AI learning companion provided as a Chromium browser extension. It enables users to capture conceptual statements, generate active recall cards from webpage content, track retention using Spaced Repetition (specifically based on the SM-2 algorithm), and grade recall answers in real-time using Large Language Model (LLM) APIs.

Coach J reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature or portion of the service at any time, with or without notice, to accommodate technical developments or platform API limits.

3. Licensing, Accounts, & Subscriptions

Coach J is available under both free and paid licensing tiers.

A. Free Tier & Trials

The extension provides a basic free tier with limited daily concept generation. To allow users to evaluate premium features, we offer a 7-day free trial of the premium tier. No credit card is required to initiate this trial.

B. Subscriptions & Payments

Premium options require recurring or fixed licensing payments processed securely via Stripe. You agree to provide current, complete, and accurate billing details. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge the applicable subscription fees to your designated payment method.

C. Cancellation & Refunds

You can cancel your subscription at any time directly through the customer portal inside the extension's options menu. Cancellations will apply to the subsequent billing cycle. Except where legally required, all subscription fees are non-refundable.

4. Acceptable Use & AI Output

Coach J employs advanced AI technologies to analyze webpage content and grade your explanations. By using the service, you agree to follow these guidelines:

API Usage Guardrails: You must not attempt to scrape, flood, bypass limits, or reverse-engineer the extension’s communications with our servers or AI endpoints.
AI Accuracy Disclaimer: Because AI outputs are generated algorithmically, summaries, highlights, and card gradings may occasionally be incomplete, inaccurate, or hallucinated. You should independently verify any critical learning concepts.
Webpage Scanning: Coach J only scans web pages on-demand when you explicitly trigger the "Start Learning" or concept generation button. You represent that you have the right to read and summarize the pages you analyze.

5. Local Data Sovereignty & Account Security

To prioritize your privacy, Coach J stores all generated section information, learning logs, and spaced repetition progress directly in your browser's local storage.

We do not maintain server-side backups of your learning databases. Uninstalling the extension or clearing browser application data will permanently erase your local learning cards and progress. Coach J is not responsible for restoring or retrieving lost local data.

6. Intellectual Property

The Coach J extension code, user interface designs, logo graphics, domain assets, and related service materials are the exclusive intellectual property of Coach J and its licensors. You are granted a limited, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the extension for personal, non-commercial educational purposes in accordance with these Terms.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

Coach J is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the extension will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that AI grading and spacing metrics will always be accurate.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall Coach J, its developers, or affiliates be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, including but not limited to damages for loss of profits, learning progress, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses arising out of or in connection with your use or inability to use the service.

9. Governing Law

These Terms of Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which the developer operates, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any legal action or proceeding arising under these Terms shall be brought exclusively in courts located in that jurisdiction.

10. Revisions and Contact Info

We may revise these Terms of Service at any time. When we make updates, we will adjust the "Last Updated" timestamp at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Coach J extension or site following updates constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
